Imagine a setting where every view looks like a postcard, an unspoiled landscape overflowing with God’s beauty, as awe-inspiring as when first created. Now, imagine communities of people where homes are weathered, families are broken, substance abuse is common, and a sense of hopeless prevails. Can such extremes exist in one place? Welcome to Alaska, a land of pristine beauty yet inundated with brokenness and pain. Sometimes referred to as the third world region of the United States, it’s this frontier of enormous contrasts that the ministry of Alaska Mission Adventures is called to serve.
Our goal is simple. Provide youth and young adults an opportunity to love and serve, penetrating the darkness by shining forth the hope and light of Christ. But there’s more. Anyone having experienced missions knows the life-changing impact that awaits. Something amazing occurs when we surrender our self-serving agenda for the purpose of Jesus, becoming his hands and feet to the oppressed of this world. You can never return home the same. Personal surrender and sacrifice become tools God uses to clear life’s clutter and center us on why we’re here, to serve as the presence of Christ. Embracing this call leads to divine revelation, confirming our identity in Christ, aligning our passions with Jesus, and engaging our energies for purpose bigger than us. To that end, we invite you to experience ALASKA through Alaska Mission Adventures.
Whether a student, a youth pastor, or a retired worker eager to volunteer, we invite you to browse the opportunities outlined within this site. We’re confident you’ll find an experience that resonates with your heart. But don’t jump just yet. Commit this potential possibility to prayer. Allow God to lead and direct you. Then, based on the Spirit’s leading, choose a date, location, and type of camp that fits you and/or your group. Give us a call or complete an application, and we’ll begin the preparation process. We can’t wait to meet you and walk with you through this journey of faith.
