PROVOCATIVE PROPOSITIONS SUMMARIES
Updated - April 22, 2009
The following are the top five dreams of our appreciative inquiry
and the provocative propositions written in response to the dreams.
1. Design a growing program of Christian education and
fellowship for all children and youth with dynamic
leadership.
The children and young adults of the community desire to participate and serve in the youth ministries of RCP for they experience Christ in the program. RCP is recognized in the community as a leader in ministry to and with youth from nursery aged children to young adults. The parents and congregation of RCP are challenged to lead and mentor participants as well as grow in their own relationship with Christ and each other. There are age appropriate programs provided in a welcoming, proactive environment that engages children in spiritual development, fellowship opportunities, mission and leadership development. Leaders are supported with ongoing training and mentors. We will hire a professional youth director as our program matures.
2. Increase opportunities to deepen fellowship, friendship
and congregational relationships.
RCP provides an exciting matrix of projects, programs, events and gatherings for a variety of interests, functions, abilities and levels of commitment. Weekly, monthly, quarterly and annual gatherings provide for increasing the opportunity to deepen fellowship, friendship and congregational relationships, crossing generational lines, closing generational gaps, and furthering congregational unity.
3. Encourage a spiritual appetite, and develop meaningful
and closer relationships with God.
RCP is a compassionate community of believers, celebrating the positive gospel of Jesus Christ, who are joyful in their spiritual walk with God. We offer an intimate, safe, and trusting atmosphere to share our deepest hopes, needs and dreams. We foster an environment for spiritual growth through joyful worship, prayer, Bible Study testimony, and fellowship through our church family.
4. Increase awareness of local missions, encourage new participation for an expanded vision, and continue to support overseas mission opportunities.
The Reformed Church in Plano is known as a leader in the community as an intergenerational and mission focused congregation. We challenge each member to be actively involved in one or more local or overseas missions. As a congregation, individuals commit at least 2 hours a month to mission service outside the walls of RCP. We promote congregational awareness in a variety of ways including regular personal testimonies and a mission calendar. A true 10% of our budget is given to missions.
5. Develop an effective marketing program to the
surrounding community of who we are and what we do.
The Reformed Church in Plano is a church family with an effective and respectful marketing outreach program that communicates our core values internally and externally through relationships and the usage of 21st century technology. The local community clearly understands the purpose of the Reformed Church in Plano, who we are and what we do.
